Work. Work Is Your New Favorite.

Image
¿Cómo andan? Espero que bien. Hope this email finds you well, wherever in the world you are. Some may think I'm lying with the title of the email, but work genuinely is my favorite (most of the time). Missionary work truly is one of the most fulfilling things. I'm not saying it's easy, because it definitely isn't, but it is pretty awesome. You may be asking, "Why is it awesome?" You may not. No matter which group you fall into, I'm going to answer anyway. This week was awesome because we were able to set three of our friends on baptismal dates! We reset the date with our friend Frank and made a game plan with him on what he needs to do to reach that goal. It was definitely what he needed, and he's ready to hit the ground running. Our friend Felipe got an answer to his prayer and feels like he should be baptized. We had a good conversation setting expectations. Prayers up for Felipe that he can receive the strength he needs to keep moving forward. Lastl...

Stay On Target, Stay On Target

Crazy week, new companion, old area but also new area. Confused? Me too. Long story short, my area (the bike area) got dissolved and combined with the car area. Now, my new companion Elder Jones and I cover the entire ward and get to use the car. Our friend Tamie was supposed to get baptized yesterday, but unfortunately she's really, really sick and has been pretty much stuck in bed. As a result, she wasn't able to make it to church, and we'll have to postpone. I know that the Lord provides a way and will help us find it, and that she'll be baptized soon enough. Please keep her in your prayers; life has been tough for her. We found this guy named Frank, and he's super cool. He asked his pastor about baptism and wasn't satisfied with the answer, so he was super ready and glad to hear our message about the restored priesthood authority and the correct way to do baptism. We invited him to be baptized, and he accepted! Hopefully, there will be much more to come, wit...

Days Are Starting To Blend Together

Yet again, another blur of a week. I keep thinking things happened last week and almost forget to mention them because I assume I've already talked about it. Hence the title. Mission life really is crazy. (Totally worth it though). As far as our friends Tamie and Carol are doing, they're both making excellent progress quitting smoking and working towards baptism. Carol was supposed to get baptized yesterday, but unfortunately, there was an accident in the family, so she had to travel to visit them. We've already reset and recommitted her, so be on the lookout for that. Tamie is showing so much excitement and desire to be baptized. She was determined to come to church no matter what happened because she knows how important it is both for her and her family. It makes me happy to see it. This transfer has really been crazy because of the emergency transfer a couple of weeks ago, where we suddenly became a trio, but it's also made every day pretty fun. Random detail that wi...

E.T Phone Home

Image
I'm guessing you can guess the reference today, but Elder Teeples (E.T.) is phoning home. Yeah, I know, not the most creative email title ever, but there wasn't a ton that happened this week. Not that anything merited one of the other quotes I have on hand. But as far as how this week went, it wasn't too bad. Overall, a good week. Still crazy in a trio and covering two areas, but we're finding the groove. A super cool experience we had this week started out with a pretty uncool thing. One of the tires on our car was leaking air, even after we filled it, so we had to go to the shop. Always a bummer because we'd much rather be out working. When we went in, one of the guys working there told us he'd met with the missionaries before and almost got baptized but didn't quite feel ready. We talked with him, but unfortunately, we weren't able to get his info or set up a time to meet. Here's where the miracle comes in: we'd already planned to call him lat...

So Long, Partner

Right off the bat, we got some crazy news. I'm now in a trio, my area has quadrupled in size, and we technically have a car we can use now. You're probably wondering why; well, long story short, Elder Carver, one of the missionaries in my district, has to go home on health leave. It was real sad to see him go, even if he will be back out in a couple of transfers. But that's the reason for today's quote/title. This leaves Elder Foltz without a companion, so he's come to join Elder Bodner and me as a trio, and we'll be working his area as well as our bike area. It's a bit of an awkward situation, but we can make it work for the last two weeks of the transfer. This week was super cool because we were able to reset our friend Carol's baptismal date, and our friend Tamie accepted a baptismal date! Also, Tamie came to church, which is something she was nervous about doing with her kids. The members were super awesome and welcoming and have been a huge help wit...
