E.T Phone Home

I'm guessing you can guess the reference today, but Elder Teeples (E.T.) is phoning home. Yeah, I know, not the most creative email title ever, but there wasn't a ton that happened this week. Not that anything merited one of the other quotes I have on hand.

But as far as how this week went, it wasn't too bad. Overall, a good week. Still crazy in a trio and covering two areas, but we're finding the groove.

A super cool experience we had this week started out with a pretty uncool thing. One of the tires on our car was leaking air, even after we filled it, so we had to go to the shop. Always a bummer because we'd much rather be out working. When we went in, one of the guys working there told us he'd met with the missionaries before and almost got baptized but didn't quite feel ready. We talked with him, but unfortunately, we weren't able to get his info or set up a time to meet. Here's where the miracle comes in: we'd already planned to call him later that day; we just didn't realize it because he goes by his middle name, and the info we had was under his first name. God knew we needed to talk to him. We were able to have a lesson with him this week, and it was really cool. Super glad we were able to get in contact with him.

My spiritual thought for today is going to get a little real and kind of bold with you all, but I really feel the need to share it.

In the Church, we do our best to be Christlike and follow in His example, but we all have our shortcomings. The whole point and goal of being together as wards, stakes, and a church is that we support one another and welcome all to come and join us on our journey to becoming more Christlike and following His example. In this, it's so important to put all the effort we can into loving, welcoming, and serving one another, even when it's inconvenient and we have to go out of our way. If we get too comfortable, complacent, or exclusive, then we're not fulfilling our responsibilities to serve others, support those in need, and welcome all into the gospel of Jesus Christ. I promise that as we do these things and devote ourselves to serving and welcoming others, we will see more happiness and find more peace in our lives. It's always worth it to those we serve and welcome. So please, do ALL that you can to invite others, welcome new people to church, and help everyone feel welcome and loved.

Love you all and hope you have a great week!!

Last week's email: So long, partner
Movie: Toy Story 3 – Woody says this at the very end when Andy leaves for college, and all the toys are on Bonnie's porch. Real touching ending to what I thought was going to be the Toy Story trilogy (the 4th one was fairly entertaining, I guess).
