Not Bad Kid

Image
News of the week is that our homie Noe got baptized! Super proud of that kid, and his family is so excited for him. It was a bit of a crazy time getting everything in place for his baptism, but the important thing is that it happened. Another epic piece of news is that our friend Jacob accepted a date to be baptized! He had been taught in the past and absolutely loves meeting with the missionaries. We talked with him about General Conference, and he's so excited to watch it. When we explained how God speaks to us through prophets and apostles, he straight-up said, "So this would have to be Jesus Christ's church because it has a prophet and apostles to speak for Him." We were absolutely blown away by his understanding and faith; we're so hyped to help him work towards baptism. Honestly, not a lot more to report for this week. Unfortunately, Emma and her family got strep throat this week and couldn't make it to church, but she's still elect, and I have faith...

Do I Look Like I Speak Spanish?

Image
The answer is no, I don't look like I do, but much to the surprise (and sometimes chagrin) of the people we talk to, we do in fact speak Spanish. It's a fun little part of the mission, seeing people's reactions to that. As far as this week went, I'd have to say it was a 9/10, which is to say really good! Had stake conference yesterday, and our home Juan pulled up! He met us at the hardware store in town and followed us to McAllen. He said he liked it and it was interesting, but had trouble hearing at some points. Slight bummer, but oh well, it was good anyways. Got to hear from the temple president and matron there, and the members here (as well as the missionaries) are so excited for the temple dedication. I can't stress enough how much of a blessing it is for the people down here and how many prayers it's an answer to. Lastly, we're prepping to help our friend Noe get baptized next week, and he's so ready. Not to mention his family is hyped for him. Th...

You're Not Invited To My Birthday Party!

Image
Had my birthday this week, oficialmente tengo 20 años. No puedo creerlo. Sorry, but seeing as you all weren't here and I was doing missionary work, I unfortunately couldn't invite you to my birthday party. It all went well, though, and overall it was a pretty good day. Shoutout to Ruby, one of the members, for getting me a cake. We were able to help our friend Noe come to church this week, as well as his family, who are members and are coming back to church again! It's so cool to see how Noe's desire to be baptized is able to have that impact on his family and help them once again receive the blessings that come through Jesus Christ and His church. Things are going well with Noe, and he's getting baptized in two weeks! So hyped for him. Another cool thing is we were able to visit another part-member family and teach their daughter Emma. She remembers a lot and is super excited to get baptized as well! She eagerly asked her parents if she could become a member of Chr...

He's A Friend From Work!

Image
¿Qué onda, vatos? How have you all been? I hope it's been good. If not, I'm sorry to hear that; let me know if I can help at all. Hopefully, things will be looking up soon for you. God is pretty good like that. I hope you enjoyed that and imagined me talking to you. Miss y’all. As far as transfer news, I’m back in the valley, in a town called Weslaco. The best part is, I’m back with the legend himself, my MTC companion, Elder Kuzmic! This piece of good news is reflected in this week's movie quote. When I got the news, I couldn’t even believe it. The slight downside is that now I’m on tech squad and have the added responsibility of running Facebook pages, making videos, and going to more meetings. Honestly, it could be pretty fun, especially with how awesome the work is here. Needless to say, I’m quite excited for this transfer. I forget how crazy it is getting transferred to a new area, especially going from a coastal city at the northern part of the mission back down to th...
