Do I Look Like I Speak Spanish?
The answer is no, I don't look like I do, but much to the surprise (and sometimes chagrin) of the people we talk to, we do in fact speak Spanish. It's a fun little part of the mission, seeing people's reactions to that.
As far as this week went, I'd have to say it was a 9/10, which is to say really good! Had stake conference yesterday, and our home Juan pulled up! He met us at the hardware store in town and followed us to McAllen. He said he liked it and it was interesting, but had trouble hearing at some points. Slight bummer, but oh well, it was good anyways.
Got to hear from the temple president and matron there, and the members here (as well as the missionaries) are so excited for the temple dedication. I can't stress enough how much of a blessing it is for the people down here and how many prayers it's an answer to.
Lastly, we're prepping to help our friend Noe get baptized next week, and he's so ready. Not to mention his family is hyped for him. The other kid we're teaching, Emma, is still going strong. Got to make her a Jesus wall and put a bunch of pictures of Jesus up in her house. She loved it.
Also, the two guys we started teaching, Mike and Ruben, both accepted dates to be baptized! Mike had been taught in the past and referred himself to the missionaries to learn more about baptism. He let us know it's still a goal of his and happily accepted a date. Ruben and his mom got invited to a ward party by some members and met some other missionaries. When we went by, they were interested in learning more. As we explained the Restoration and the Book of Mormon to them, they both really liked it and said it just made sense. Ruben eagerly asked where he could get a Book of Mormon, to which we replied, "right here," and gave him one. He was excited to read it and is excited to be baptized. His mom doesn't quite understand authority and being baptized again yet, but we'll work with her as we teach Ruben.
Thanks again to all of you who reached out and continue to show me so much love. I know God really does bless our lives through the individuals around us. I testify He answers prayers and that He blesses us without fail when we do the things He's commanded us.
¡Jesús te ama!

Last week's email: "You're not invited to my birthday party!" Movie: Peanut Butter Falcon – most of you probably haven't seen this movie, but it's about a kid/guy with Down syndrome who wants to become a pro wrestler, runs away from the facility he's at, and goes on an adventure with Shia LaBeouf. He says the line as he's wrestling someone.
