Well Yes, But Actually No

Image
I'm sure some of you are wondering, "Elder Teeples, are you feeling better this week?" To answer your question, I'd refer you to the title of this email. I’ve got a kind of funny, kind of sad, and sort of gross story to share real quick. Toward the beginning of last week, I decided to wash my sheets and make my bed afterward. Of course, that was the night my body decided I was going to throw up. I guess my sheets just needed to be washed two nights in a row. After that, I went to the doctor, and they gave me some antibiotics—hopefully, they help. Right now, you're probably thinking I had another rough week, but I'd actually have to disagree. This week genuinely went really well! If you remember, our friend Eduardo and his son Luiz were planning to be baptized this week, but Eduardo was having a tough time finding work. This week, we had a lesson with him and found out that he’s been able to find some work as a mechanic. Earlier in the week, we felt prompted to...

The Hardest Tasks Require The Strongest Wills

I barely have any time to write this email, but as the title says, we gotta push through. I didn’t feel the best this week—felt kind of sick and had trouble getting to sleep—but somehow, I was able to work the entire time! Truly a miracle to receive the strength to continue and do the Lord’s work despite my trials and weaknesses. I wasn’t completely healed, but I didn’t need to be, and God gave me what I needed. I’ve also been able to see that while we may not have the success we’re looking for, we can still follow the Spirit and help others in the way God needs us to. I’m humbled to have had the opportunity to meet the people I know I needed to at exactly the time they needed it. The only possible explanation is that God leads us to where He needs us. Sorry this email’s so short. I needed some rest today and then spent a good amount of time serving some Elders in my zone by shining their shoes for them. It just makes me so happy to help in any little way I can and show them the love I...

All Protein Diet But Also Doing Carbs

First things first, if you don't get the title, that means I eat everything. All kinds of food. This week we had a zone meeting and each person/companionship brought their favorite type of cereal. Overall, there were 16 types of cereal, and I felt like I should try them all, so I had 16 full bowls of cereal. Definitely felt a bit wider after that, but it was worth it. Also, horchata goes really well with Cocoa Pebbles and Cocoa Puffs. We also had stake conference this week and it was so cool. I actually think I prefer it in Spanish. Now, before you call me crazy, I didn't say I understood it better in Spanish, because I definitely didn't. But I really liked thinking and taking notes in Spanish, as well as thinking about what was said more intently so that I could understand better. Overall, a good experience. Our friend Eduardo is doing so well and should be able to be baptized at the end of this month. He's going through a rough spot right now as he lost his job, but E...

You Finally Had The Noodle Dream!

To start things off, I've finally started dreaming in Spanish! Can finally check that off the mission bucket list. This transfer is already off to an awesome start. My new comp, Elder Preece, is super cool and also from Wyoming! He's from Pinedale, which is about 9 hours from Cheyenne, but I still think it's cool. We work well together already and were able to set a baptismal date with a young couple named Gabby and Andres. They were a referral from some of our members, and they are so ready to learn. We also reset a baptismal date with our friend Eduardo. He's really working to turn his life around and give up his addiction, and I've already seen the progress. He's still got a ways to go, but I know God can and will provide a way. As for my Spanish, it's getting better day by day, and the feeling of not knowing what I'm doing is slowly going away. I had the SIM card this week, which meant I was in charge of answering calls and calling people. Much to my...
