What'd We Do Now Sheriff?

Image
Howdy, mi gente. ¿Cómo fue la semana pasada? Much to say, little time to say it. Así que pasa la vida a veces, especialmente la vida misional. Email title quote is real simple: I got myself a western/Mexican cowboy hat today. I'm quite happy with my purchase. The biggest thing from this week was working with our friend Christian, who's getting baptized this Saturday. It's been awesome to see his desire to meet, make changes in his life, and grow closer to our Father in Heaven. He came to basketball and then Book of Mormon study on Friday, and he loved it. He also loved Elder's Quorum on Sunday and is getting fellowshipped with the other guys there. I also got to go to the temple this week with the zone and a couple of other zones. It was amazing to be able to go through the temple again, and especially to feel the peace that comes from being in the House of the Lord and remembering the covenants we've made. I also had interviews with Presidente this week, which were...

What About Level Zero?

Image
Greetings all, Not much happened this week, to be honest. San Benito continues to be an interesting place, and the Valley continues to get hotter. I low-key got sick this week, but kept grinding. Met some interesting people, but for the most part, this next week we'll be focusing on the basics. (Hence level zero). Next week is looking super solid though. I’ve got some lessons set, I’m going to find some cool people, extend some BD’s, and we get to go to the temple on Wednesday as a cherry on top. Man, I love being a missionary. One thing that really stood out to me lately was something said in the last conference. They talked about how when we return to live with our Father in Heaven and look back at all the hardships and trials of this life, we’ll look back and say, “Was that all that was required?” I truly know the Atonement covers all and makes everything we go through worth it. As we maintain focus on Christ, all will work out for our good. Sorry for the shorter email this week...

My Mama Says I'm Special

First and foremost, love ya, Ma. Thanks for always believing in me and helping me see my potential. Also, shout out and happy Mother's Day to all those moms out there—past, present, and future. In other news, I'm in a new area: a border town called San Benito that's right outside of Harlingen. The coolest part is that there's a big resaca (waterway) that cuts through and snakes through the town. My companion says it makes for some good fishing. One of these days, we might just catch some catán (alligator gar). It's weird being in a new place after so long in Edinburg, but that's how it is every time. Definitely different, but all in all, I'm excited to find, teach, and baptize on some new turf. I'm also glad to be off the bikes full time and have the option of using a car. We're still using the bikes, but having some AC at the end of the bike ride makes all the difference, especially with how hot it's getting. Summer is upon us. Not much more to ...

I Find Your Lack Of Faith Disturbing

¿Qué dice mi gente? Espero que estén bien. Hard to believe it's been a whole year since last Star Wars Day; it absolutely flew by. There's your hint for the title quote this week. It’s been a bit slower of a week, and I got a little sick, which, as my fellow missionaries know, is the worst. Luckily, I was back on my feet after a day and able to grind it on the bikes. Our homie Damien is prepping for his baptism this Sunday, and we’re meeting with him at his member friend's house tonight. Should be hype. We also found a lady named Lupita who's been taught by missionaries in the past. Without getting into too much detail, she's been going through a lot lately and is really looking for the peace and protection that come from the gospel of Jesus Christ and the gift of the Holy Ghost. We dedicated her house and promised she would find these things through baptism, so she's getting baptized here soon! Prayers up for her and her daughter, things have been difficult for...
