By All Accounts It Doesn't Make Sense

Hey Elder Teeples, how was your week?

I'm glad you asked. If you didn't ask, just know that the following email will be addressing said question.

First and foremost, our friends Ofelia and her grandson Nehemiah got baptized!
Let me tell you, it was a long journey, but a miracle for sure. Unfortunately, Bishop didn't get baptized with them, but I have faith he will one day.

It started out that Ofelia seemed unwilling to give up coffee, relatively disinterested in church, and unsure about baptism. However, over time, her desire to be baptized increased and she became determined to give up coffee and come to church. Hence the email title: by all accounts, it doesn't make sense that she had that much drive to be baptized and overcame those obstacles. As the scriptures say, the things of God "confound the wise and the learned."

Things were running smoothly for her and Nehemiah until we got a text from her a couple of days before the baptism saying she was going to go to a different church and be baptized there instead. We went by, and the Spirit helped us know what her doubt and need were, and helped us resolve it. It was a super spiritual experience, and the Spirit definitely guided what we said and shared.

All the efforts to help her and Nehemiah prepare and feel the Spirit truly were worth it when they were baptized yesterday.

I know that God takes our best efforts to follow Him and magnifies them. He sees us as we can become and simply helps us slowly but surely make our way there.

¡Hasta la próxima!
