Search Your Feelings, You Know It To Be True
¡Bueno, bueno! Espero que todo está bien con ustedes!
Big week with conference and with the second-to-last weekend in the mission. High stakes, but high rewards.
We biked all over town telling everyone we could about conference and getting them all set up. Saturday and Sunday, we had some rainstorms try to get in the way, but not even pouring rain and mud everywhere can stop the Lord's work.
Before I get too far, the title quote comes because of the experiences we had helping people tune in to conference. Each and every time, we invited them to listen to their feelings and the Spirit to find the truth in what was being said.
Quite honestly, Saturday and Sunday were two of the most tiring days of my mission. Biking up and down town in the rain and mud to help people watch, all while the conference was going on. We didn't get to watch very much of conference live because we were too busy locking in everyone else. (Don't worry, we'll go through all the talks to listen to and study them.)
In the end, it all paid off as we helped close to 30 people watch conference in our area. As a zone, we helped 163 people watch, and as a mission, we had around 1,600 people watch conference. I don't say these numbers to try and brag, but to emphasize truly how much the Lord is hastening His work. He's the one who made it all happen and worked through us. He truly loves His children and wants them to find guidance.
One of the families we helped watch conference, a mom and her two daughters, really stands out to me. They've been here for only three months and have hardly anything, but they have such strong faith and desire to follow Christ. When we asked the mom what she thought, she said that everything she heard aligned with what she knew and believed about Christ from the Bible. She then replied that she wanted to learn more, especially through this Book of Mormon that they mentioned.
She truly was prepared to receive the restored gospel. She and her daughters all loved it and accepted baptismal dates for the 13th, next Sunday!! I'm super excited for them, and most of all, I'm excited to work right until the very end.
It definitely wasn't all easy and wasn't only success and miracles. We had our fair share of failures and differences, including a family we were teaching essentially tell us they're not ready right now and to give them some space. It breaks my heart because of how ready they are and the blessings they'll be missing, but I know all is in the Lord's timing, and ultimately people have their own agency and choice.
Notwithstanding the many difficulties and obstacles we have hereunto faced, the Lord hath proved His infinite goodness and power in providing miracles unto the children of men.
(Not a scripture quotation, simply scripture-inspired and the best way I can describe it.)
As always, I'm grateful for you all and your prayers on my behalf and on behalf of those I have the privilege of teaching.
¡Les amo!
Con firmeza y fe en Cristo,
-Elder Teeples
