There's Always A Bigger Fish

Image
Es que aquí estoy con otra carta. How have you all been and how's life? Big thanks to everyone who emailed me. You're the greatest. To all of my other readers, you're awesome too. The email title this week comes because there's always more miracles in store and there's always people to find. It also comes because for p-day we went to a local park and pond. There was a guy casting his net, pulling in tilapia, carp, and bass. Elder Lonson and I went over to talk to him, and he let us help him catch some fish. (Pics below) This past week was yet again, loco. It always feels like there's so much that happens and then it all feels like a blur. Very quickly, to take a page out of the book of my old friend and one of my first companions, Elder Wilson, I'll be doing a section called "Stories We Don't Tell Mom." I almost get hit by cars a couple of times a week. One particular time, a car was coming out of a neighborhood, stopped, and as I was crossing,...

Coach, We Need A Water Break

Image
¿Qué onda, vatos? First things first, yesterday Alexis and Alvin got baptized! It was such a great baptismal service, and they were both so happy. Guess you could say it was a good water break. This week was a crazy one getting prepped for the baptism, but definitely a rewarding one. Honestly, one of the most rewarding in my mission. Quick shout out to my friend Elder Cragun over in Chicago. He told me to say hi to an Elder he served with who was coming home to my ward. Little did he know that Elder Morales is good friends with Alexis and is who he wanted to baptize him. Small world indeed. Running out of time, but I'll write more next week. I know that God is in the details and is truly aware of us in all we do. -Elder Teeples Last week's email: "If you get killed, walk it off." Movie: Avengers: Age of Ultron - Captain America says this as they're going into battle (to a couple other Avengers' surprise). Pics: Puro 956 Baptism pics

If You Get Killed, Walk It Off

Honestly, it was a rougher week but still really good. I found some people I'm excited to teach, and they have some great potential. In addition, our friends Alexis and Alvin are both looking really good and are getting baptized this coming Sunday! Alexis is the 18-year-old guy we've been working with who has been coming to church for about 4 years now. He's been attending with his girlfriend and her family, and he’s kept coming even though his girlfriend is at a different college. The awesome part is that his girlfriend's brother and one of his best friends have been serving a mission and helping him prepare to get baptized. The other cool tidbit is that his friend, Elder Morales, was serving in the same mission and zone as my friend from high school, Elder Cragun, who told me to say hi for him. Not only that, but Alexis wants Elder Morales to baptize him. All around awesome, and I'm so excited for Alexis. (Another side note is he bore his testimony during fast and...

They Found Me, I Don't Know How But They Found Me

Image
¿Qué pasa, calabaza? Hope everything’s going and moving for all y’all. As far as the email title, this week I got special permission to have lunch with some family friends. Crazy that they found me in such an obscure corner of the world, but they found me. Things this week were pretty fuego, but not so much that we got burned, if you know what I mean. (Our friend Gally we’ve been teaching actually spells her name Gali because it’s short for Galilea, which is Spanish for Galilee.) Had stake conference this weekend, and our friend Gali came Saturday night. On Sunday, we had our friend Alvin (the cousin of our recent convert Albert from Cuba). They’re both progressing super well and are super excited to be baptized. This next weekend we’ll be having Gali’s baptism! It was going to be yesterday, but it got pushed back so her husband, who works out of state, can come. Hopefully, it’ll help her set that example for him as well. She’s super ready, and the ward has been helping her and her kid...
