He'll Keep Calling Me, And Calling Me

Image
After all of our efforts and calls paid off, because our friend Rodrigo came to church and really liked it. The ward really helped him out and went the extra mile to talk to him and help him feel comfortable. I definitely think it helped him a lot, and it's going to help him in the long run and really help him on his path toward being baptized. The weather this week was definitely better (not more swimming through the rain and coming home soaked). We found some cool people and got a nice build-up going in the area. Unfortunately, our friend Gally wasn't able to make it to church this week, but we'll be following up with her and focusing on extreme efforts to really stop any doubts before they come up. Keep her in your prayers this week. A fun thing that happened this week was we helped some inactive members move, and they gave us four bags of clothes, most of which were new. We got to go through it and get some pretty nice stuff. I now have like four new pairs of pants, som...

Just Keep Swimming

Lots of rain this week. Biking through it was probably the closest I could possibly get to swimming. Despite getting home soaking wet at night, we had some pretty good days and found some cool people. Transfers happened; I stayed, but surprisingly, my companion Elder Quinn left and I got Elder Shakespeare. Felt a bit bad for him coming into the bike area in the rain, but all in all, it's going well and starting to clear up. This week we also had a super awesome lesson with our friend Rodrigo and his friend Ananías, where the spirit was super strong, and they accepted a date to be baptized. They're two guys in their mid-twenties who really want to grow close to God and find peace in their lives. Definitely keep them in your prayers. We've continued working with our friend Gally and fasted with her on Sunday that we can help her in her situation and find a way forward and toward baptism. I know the Lord will provide a way, even if it is difficult. Not much more time, but I ju...

Pitstop.

This week was one of having to change out the tires on our bikes pretty much every other day. No idea how we kept having bad luck with our tires getting flat, but needless to say, we got pretty good at fixing them and changing tires. Pitstop indeed. Strangely enough, despite the weather getting warmer and the temperature rising, a bunch of people got sick, which made teaching a bit tougher. We still found a good number of people, but a lot were sick on Sunday. Some of them I believe actually were, and some I don't. Mexican people were surprisingly excited for the Super Bowl (another reason to party and cook good food, I guess), so I wouldn't be surprised if that was also a factor for some of them not being able to come. This week, we were also able to start teaching the mom of a couple of our recent converts. She's come to church a lot, but until now hasn't been interested in meeting with missionaries. We had a super cool lesson with her this week where she took notes a...

That Was Not Nice And Easy

¿Cómo andan todos? Grind of a week, but a good one. Some of you might remember I was keeping score between me and the ground in my last bike area. For a while, I was staying one step ahead, but the ground tied it back up this week. Made it out alright and relatively unscathed, but later that day my companion's front tire popped and he crashed too. That day we also biked around 30-something miles, so all in all, a tiring day. Real nice weather lately though, best winter I've ever had. Makes being on the bikes pretty nice. Week started out relatively slow, but really kicked into high gear toward the end of the week, especially yesterday. After church on Sunday, we went out biking with a couple of young men (2 brothers) in the ward and found some super cool people. The brothers added their testimonies of the Book of Mormon, baptism, and how this is Jesus Christ's church. Super cool to see their excitement to share and be able to find with them. Something that's stood out t...
