It's..It's Gone!

Today's email begins with a story that explains this week's title:

We had a lesson with our friend Joe, and as usual, we sat out on his front porch. Expecting this, my companion and I put our bikes by the fence, about 15 feet away from where we'd be sitting. The lesson went well, just like normal, and we went to leave. In that moment, I discovered that my bike was missing and had been stolen. I stood there in shock for a moment, wondering how they'd managed to take it without any of us noticing from the porch. I shook my head and accepted that I'd likely never see my bike again and would have to find a new one. Our friend Joe had me write down a description of it and said he'd do what he could to find it. I thanked him but didn't think much of it. A couple of days later, however, he texted us that he had a surprise for us and had found the bike! In disbelief, we called him and asked him to send a picture. Sure enough, he indeed had recovered my bike. I asked him how he'd managed to find it, and he said his cousin had overheard someone bragging about having picked up a bike in the area and had asked what the bike looked like. As they described it, Joe's cousin realized it was the same one, and they went over to the guy's house and got it back. Definitely a crazy turn of events, to say the least.

In other news, Sunday morning as we were preparing for church and began reaching out to our friends to remind them, we received a text from our friend Monica, who we'd stopped teaching. She texted us out of the blue and said, "Just so you all know, I'll be coming to church today." She came to church with all five of her kids, one of which is over the age of 8, and they all seemed to enjoy coming. It was definitely cool to see that she was willing to put in the effort to come, especially since we hadn't reached out to her about coming.

Lastly, we've been able to help our friend Karina continue to prepare for baptism and had some awesome lessons. She unfortunately wasn't able to make it to church (we're not entirely sure what happened), but please keep her in your prayers that she can continue to work towards that goal.

All in all, a pretty solid week and one full of miracles. I know the Lord is in the details and truly is still a God of miracles. Here's to all that happened and all the next week holds!

Had my birthday this week, oficialmente tengo 20 años. No puedo creerlo. Sorry, but seeing as you all weren't here and I was doing missionary work, I unfortunately couldn't invite you to my birthday party. It all went well, though, and overall it was a pretty good day. Shoutout to Ruby, one of the members, for getting me a cake. We were able to help our friend Noe come to church this week, as well as his family, who are members and are coming back to church again! It's so cool to see how Noe's desire to be baptized is able to have that impact on his family and help them once again receive the blessings that come through Jesus Christ and His church. Things are going well with Noe, and he's getting baptized in two weeks! So hyped for him. Another cool thing is we were able to visit another part-member family and teach their daughter Emma. Did I Leave The Stove On?

If you remember, toward the end of my email last week, I mentioned a tropical storm was coming through Corpus. What ended up happening is it rained super hard for two days straight, drizzled a bit the next day, and then stopped. I had to stay inside most of the first day but was able to work the second and third, which was nice. After the rain stopped, it's been SUPER humid, which has made it really hot; hence the title this week. Not a whole lot to report on this week, but it wasn't a bad week. I got an online referral for someone named Addisun. What's significant is that under the category "topic of interest," she said baptism! When we called her and introduced ourselves, she sounded excited to hear from us. She told us she's actually been wanting to get baptized for a while now, which is super awesome to hear. I Am Your Father

That's right. The time has come. As of Saturday, I'm training and have a mission, son! His name is Elder Longson, and he's awesome. (He's even already got "son" in his name, how about that?) He's super awesome and already has such a strong and amazing testimony. He's seriously doing great sharing with everyone and promising blessings. It's really crazy to think a year ago I was in his shoes. It feels like I just came in. In case you're wondering, Elder Kuzmic didn't leave, and he's trio-ing it up with us! Definitely takes a load off of training in tech squad a bit since he's here to help out with tech stuff and be a good example to my greenie. This week, church went super great; we had 6 of our friends show up! Super hype. Our homie Mike came with his daughter Layla, and he even shared his testimony about the power of God during fast and testimony meeting.
