I Feel... Cold
Some of you will probably clown on me for this, but I've genuinely been cold this past week. I've gotten to the point that even in the 60's is a bit chilly, especially on the bikes at night. My acclimation to the heat has been made obvious. All that being said, today there's a high of 40 and a low of 26—almost unheard of here, so everyone here is kind of freaking out. No idea how I'm gonna handle below-freezing weather and snow; I can barely handle this. But the work goes on.
Not the best week in the books as far as finding people, and unfortunately, none of our friends made it to church. But that didn't stop us from having some cool experiences this week and some Sunday afternoon miracles. Sunday afternoon we went out with a couple of young men in the ward, two brothers named Oscar and Orion. They biked around with us, and we found some cool people and even ran into a lady named Yasenia we'd met earlier in the week and had a lesson with her there at the park.
This week we also had a General Authority Seventy, Elder Alvarado, come visit the mission, and it was such an amazing experience. The amount of revelation was crazy, both personal and for the mission. At one point, he was talking about how the missionary standards bless and guide us and asked who had their physical copy. I raised my hand, which resulted in him asking me to join him up front and putting his arm around my shoulders in a tight, loving grip. He had me read the letter from the First Presidency at the beginning to everyone there (super glad I've been practicing my Spanish reading out loud). I then got to share my insights with him when he asked us to share with our companions. All in all, a super cool opportunity.
The absolute highlight of this week was definitely that my friend Marisol back in Weslaco got baptized! It seriously was one of the happiest moments on my mission. Even though I wasn't able to be there, I was so happy for her, and the Spirit was very strong. I was able to call in to talk to her after, and she said, "I finally found that feeling I've been looking for, and I know this is definitely the place I need to be." She's come so far, and I'm so grateful that the Lord helped her get here and that I was able to see it.
