Did I Leave The Stove On?

If you remember, toward the end of my email last week, I mentioned a tropical storm was coming through Corpus. What ended up happening is it rained super hard for two days straight, drizzled a bit the next day, and then stopped. I had to stay inside most of the first day but was able to work the second and third, which was nice. After the rain stopped, it's been SUPER humid, which has made it really hot; hence the title this week. Not a whole lot to report on this week, but it wasn't a bad week. I got an online referral for someone named Addisun. What's significant is that under the category "topic of interest," she said baptism! When we called her and introduced ourselves, she sounded excited to hear from us. She told us she's actually been wanting to get baptized for a while now, which is super awesome to hear. A slight issue is that she also said she wants to have her baby baptized too, but we'll read some Moroni 8 and help her see why that's not ne...

Get Back In There Tear!

Crazy week, but it had a pretty awesome ending; let's get right to it. For those of you wondering why it ended so awesome, it's because our good friend Frank got baptized! It was such an exciting event, and the Spirit was so strong. Frank's joy at finally being able to be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost was so touching to see. (Partial reason for the email title today.) I mentioned this in an earlier email, but Frank was so ready to accept the gospel because he had a friend years ago who invited him to church, gave him a Book of Mormon, and even invited him to family history activities. It's the influence of this friend that helped Frank be ready to make this covenant with God and receive the happiness the gospel brings. Even if it's years later, we can make such an impact on those we serve, invite, and love. The less fortunate news and other reason for the email title is that Santos wasn't able to get baptized. He had another heart attack and is...

I Will Do What I Must

¡Hola a todos y bienvenidos a mi correo! This week was pretty awesome in the fact that we were able to continue helping Frank and Santos in their lessons and keep preparing for their baptisms this next Sunday. The email title this week is because it's crunch time for Santos and Frank. We're going to do all we can to help them and make sure they're ready to be baptized next weekend. Our friend Frank is so elect and ready. As we taught him about temples, he expressed genuine interest and desire in wanting to do work for his ancestors. He even said that he'd done family history with his member friend years ago. We even set up a time to go see the McAllen temple open house with him. All in all, he's progressing super well, and I'm super excited for him. We almost had a little hiccup in the plan on Sunday, though. The night before, we'd had a lesson with him at the church and he'd passed his baptismal interview. We reminded him about church the next day, and ...

There Is Too Much, Let Me Sum Up

¡Bueno bueno! Hope you all had an excellent week! Yet again, my phone refused to work today, so I wasn't able to send out my email until now. (I'm working on getting it fixed or replaced). You might remember me talking about my friend Frank last week and how he's preparing to be baptized in a few weeks. Well, this Sunday, he made it to church and had a great time! I was a little nervous he wasn't going to make it. On his way to the church, he somehow ended up on the complete opposite side of town and got lost. (He was on Holly St. instead of Horne Rd. for some reason). Definitely a small miracle that he made it. It's been so awesome teaching Frank this week. He's just so ready to learn. He had some really good questions and insights, especially about the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He already has such a cool testimony of the work of God. Our other friend who came to church with us (who I may or may not have mentioned last week) is Santos! He's...
