I'll Be Back
Transfer time—y'all ready for this? 'Cause I don't know if I am. But I'm headed up to the northern part of South Texas to the coasts of Corpus Christi!
After six months of being here, it's finally time for me to say goodbye to La Joya. Definitely very bittersweet, because I'm excited to go to a new area, but I'll definitely miss it here—especially all the people. No worries, though, I'll be back.
I was initially going to be transferred to Robstown, but things got switched up, and now I'm going to Corpus. I know there's a reason, and that I'll be able to do what the Lord needs me to there and help the people in that area receive the gospel.
As for my last week in La Joya, it was a great time. We kept on the grind and helped our friends keep it up. Our friend Stephen (the adventurer who knows about the supernatural) came to church and will be baptized next week! I'm a little sad I'll miss it, but I'm super excited for him.
The weather was a little all over the place this week. It went from 100° and sunny, to super windy, to pouring rain and flooding, back to blazing hot, and it even hailed this week. The other elders' car got a little beat up, but our truck came through unscathed.
Speaking of taking a beating, I keep getting bitten by things out here. Dogs, cats, mosquitoes, a camel last week, and this week I got bit by a cow (that one didn't really hurt) and a macaw (that one did hurt). It's okay, though—all good fun. I'll let y'all know if anything new bites me.
Last thing: I highly recommend reading the talk "Do You Know Why I as a Christian Believe in Christ?" by Elder Corbitt from this last conference. There are so many people I come across who believe in Christ but don't truly know why they do, and as a result, aren't ready or willing to learn about His Restored Gospel and receive more blessings. I know that as we truly ponder why we believe in Christ and exactly how our faith in Him blesses us, we can and will see our lives in a new light and approach trials with more faith.
Love y'all and wish you the best. As always, I love hearing from you, and I'll do my best to reply.
Ciao for now!
