He's Tricky Like That Jesus

Probably wondering about the title. Well, we had transfer calls last night, and I definitely thought I was going to a different area, but it turns out I'm staying a 4th transfer here in La Joya. In case you're unfamiliar, a transfer is 6-7 weeks, meaning that I will have spent about 24 weeks/6 months/a quarter of my mission here in La Joya. I know the Lord still has a work for me to do here, and even though I don't know what it is, I know this is where I need to be. (He's tricky like that.)

Even though it'll be a long time in this area, I'm actually so hyped to be staying. This ward is growing at an amazing pace, my Spanish is getting better daily, and the people here are so ready for the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Just last night, we were able to teach this woman named Armadina a really cool lesson about prophets and why the Book of Mormon is so important. Right before that, we met her sister, who Armadina had told about our message. Her sister said she wanted to learn more too!

Immediately after, we met a couple who were outside and had previously talked to missionaries. They said they weren't interested but asked if we wanted some food and a soda. However, as we talked to them, they opened up and started to express more and more interest in learning about Christ, learning from us, and even attending church with us! (They then gave us some really good Mexican-style grilled chicken, some tortillas, and some sodas.)

It definitely showed me that Heavenly Father had led us to the people who were prepared for our message at the exact right time. The Spirit truly guides us in the small things.

In 1 Nephi 4:6, he says, "And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do."
I highly doubt as Nephi was being led by the Spirit that he thought to himself, "Oh wow, I am being led by the Spirit." He simply did what was right and trusted the Lord to guide him. It works the same for us as well; if we do what's right and trust the Lord, the Spirit will guide us, even if we don't know it at the time.

¡Se amo! ¡Que tenga un buen día!

Last week's email: A newt? I got better...
Movie: Monty Python and the Holy Grail – the village is accusing one lady of being a witch, and one of the villagers says, "She turned me into a newt!" When questioned about it, he just says, "I got better..."
