1,2,10!! Ahahahaha!!

I seriously can't believe how packed this week was. It definitely felt like a month! From getting stranded on the border, not being able to stand up straight after a bad headache, and having a baptism for the Jimenez family—it's been quite the ride!

As for the title of this email, on our way back from Walmart, we saw a minivan speed by, being chased by four police cars with their sirens blaring. This was right by our apartment, and we just saw the massive crime scene with the wrecked minivan and cop cars. It sounded like there was a quick shoot-out too (which is why I mentioned it in the email title). All I can say is, ladies and gentlemen, they got him.

This part doesn't really relate to anything else I've said so far or anything I'll mention later, but I was getting some heartburn while we were studying in McDonald's, so I fixed it by getting and eating a Happy Meal. I can honestly say that I medically took a McDonald's Happy Meal.

In case you're wondering about being stranded by the border, Elder Dahl had to go to zone leadership council, so I was in a trio for a few hours with Elders Fulwider and Hobbs. We biked 9 miles on an uphill dirt road to a lesson we had set. On the way there, Elder Fulwider's bike pedals broke off, and he also popped his back tire. Since his bike was unrideable, we couldn't walk back, and Elder Dahl was in the middle of a meeting, so we were stuck. I said a quick prayer and felt like I needed to call one of our less-active members. He answered immediately and came to get us in 15 minutes. He then was at church with his entire family on Sunday!

I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers. He knows what we need, and all we need to do is ask. I also know that the Spirit speaks to us often through sudden thoughts in our heads. We just need to have the faith to act on them.

Last but certainly not least, the Jimenez's baptism! I'm so happy for them and their decision to make covenants with our Father in Heaven. It was such a good experience, and they were so ready and excited for it. The baptismal service was after church, but Hermano Jimenez was so excited that after sacrament meeting, he asked if it was time yet. We also didn't have a jumpsuit that fit him, so we bought him a white button-up shirt and some white shorts. Both Elder Dahl and I had to be in the font to baptize him so that we could help him get back up. It went smoothly, and I was able to baptize Hermana Jimenez. Definitely a day I'll always remember!

My Time Has Come

To all who have been reading up until this point, or even if you're just reading this email: thank you, and I appreciate you. This was the last full week of my mission. From being set apart as a missionary on Sep. 26, 2022, to going home for two weeks on medical release in between the MTC and the field, to being here today—all in all, it's been the greatest opportunity and experience I could possibly have asked for. This past week was busy as always, and we saw a lot of miracles. We were able to teach a part-member family where the mom really wants to come back to church and help her daughter learn the gospel. We're seeing miracles from our friends who watched General Conference. There's a ton of potential in this area. I'm a bit sad to be leaving, but I know God definitely has a plan for the people here, and the work will continue. Yesterday Is History, Today Is A Gift

¡Feliz año a todos! Haven't done this before, but it feels fitting to share the entire movie quote with you all: "Tomorrow is a mystery, Yesterday is history, but Today is a gift; that is why it is called the present." This quote causes me to reflect on how I'm spending my time and focus. Reflect on past experiences and make goals for the new year, but don't let them distract from or take away from the now. Before we get into it, it's gotta be said: About time I send an email, it's been since last year!! This week was a solid week. We were able to meet the family of a member in the ward's brother. He'd invited them to the ward Christmas party and (with the help of the other Elders) gave them a tour of the church. Their daughter, the member's niece Emily, who's in her 20s, especially was excited to see the baptismal font and wants to be baptized! Stay On Target, Stay On Target

Crazy week, new companion, old area but also new area. Confused? Me too. Long story short, my area (the bike area) got dissolved and combined with the car area. Now, my new companion Elder Jones and I cover the entire ward and get to use the car. Our friend Tamie was supposed to get baptized yesterday, but unfortunately she's really, really sick and has been pretty much stuck in bed. As a result, she wasn't able to make it to church, and we'll have to postpone. I know that the Lord provides a way and will help us find it, and that she'll be baptized soon enough. Please keep her in your prayers; life has been tough for her. We found this guy named Frank, and he's super cool. He asked his pastor about baptism and wasn't satisfied with the answer, so he was super ready and glad to hear our message about the restored priesthood authority and the correct way to do baptism.
