You Can Do It Brucey!

This week I gained 7 pounds. It's fine, I'm fine. The food down here is good (usually), and people love to feed us and get offended when you don't keep eating, so I've been stuffing myself and having an average of 5 meals a day.
If you know this week's movie quote, then you'll get how it relates to my situation.
One house we went to, the guy was grilling a ton of meat and asked us to stay for dinner. We told him we couldn’t because we had another appointment. He proceeded to make us plates to take home and loaded them with every kind of meat we could imagine. His wife brought him tortillas to give us with the meat, and he told her in Spanish, "No, they're white, they want bread. White people love bread." We told him that tortillas were perfectly fine, but he asked us how to say bread in English. After we told him, he used what little English he knew to yell, "I love bread!" while he barbecued. It was so funny, but we ended up with tortillas anyway.

Elder Dahl and I have been grinding and had a much better week than we did last week. (Him being healthy definitely helped.) I had a couple of particularly amazing spiritual experiences that I want to share.

The first is that we had been walking the streets at night after we'd felt prompted to go check in with a member. We felt like we should walk all the way down the street, and at the end of the street, there was a young woman in her yard. We called out that we were the missionaries and asked if she'd like a message about Christ. We half expected her to hurry inside since it was late and two random men were walking up, but instead, she said, "Yes, of course," and hurried over. She told us she wants to change and grow closer to God, and when I was showing her a pamphlet about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, she eagerly asked if she could have it before I could offer it to her. We referred her to the sisters who are over the English branch, and they set a baptismal date with her!

The second experience is that during morning planning, a name popped into my head. Elder Dahl turned to me after the prayer and said, "I feel like you know where we need to go today." When we stopped by that night, they weren't home, but again, I felt we should walk down the street. A couple houses down, we called out to this guy outside who told us he'd been thinking about God and how he needed help in his life. We taught him and then said a prayer for him. When I finished the prayer, he looked up with tears in his eyes and thanked us. I'm so glad the spirit led us to him.

Thanks for reading and for your support, it means a lot. I love hearing from you all; it makes my week.

Sincerely,
ELDER TEEPLES
