Did You Tell Them That They Were The Lord's Chips?

Hey everyone, hope you're doing well. I'll get right to it—this week has been pretty good, even though the food is iffy, and our stomachs often feel iffy after eating it. It's such a running joke and a topic that we often talk about in Spanish. As much as we make fun of it, though, we strive not to forget that, as Nacho Libre says, "...they were the Lord's chips." I'm going to be honest, this week started out a bit rough. On Sunday, I was really discouraged, felt inadequate, and even wondered why I was really here. I prayed to my Father in Heaven to help me through this difficult time because I knew that there was no way I'd be able to get through this alone. It wasn't answered immediately, but after sacrament meeting, we had an activity called Go and Do, which was time to ponder, pray, and study the scriptures. I know it sounds like any other day as a missionary, but trust me, it was different. I started to feel that the doubts I was having were not from God and that I could accomplish what He needed me to on my mission. I'm not saying that things instantly got better, but as I really pondered and sincerely prayed, I could feel God's hand in my life. Later that night, everyone in my district shared their experiences, and the Spirit in the room was so strong that we were all crying (even one of the elders who said he managed to keep in the tears when he said goodbye to his family). It was one of my happiest moments to give all the elders in my district a hug afterward and know that I wasn't alone and that Christ would help us through the hard times. The week got progressively better after that, and we had a ton of fun. I feel like we learned a lot. The Spanish is slowly getting there, and we can have long conversations now. I'm able to understand pretty much everything in class that is said. I got to take some accidental naps, see the trees all lit up with lights, eat cookies after class with my district, play sand volleyball, and meet my second cousin Elder Becker, who I hadn't met before. It was so cool to make the connection. I know that if we turn to the Lord in our hard times, He will help us. He knows us and wants us as we are because He loves us. Hope you all have a good week! ¡Hasta la pasta!
