Hey Elder Teeples, how was your week? I'm glad you asked. If you didn't ask, just know that the following email will be addressing said question. First and foremost, our friends Ofelia and her grandson Nehemiah got baptized! Let me tell you, it was a long journey, but a miracle for sure. Unfortunately, Bishop didn't get baptized with them, but I have faith he will one day. It started out that Ofelia seemed unwilling to give up coffee, relatively disinterested in church, and unsure about baptism. However, over time, her desire to be baptized increased and she became determined to give up coffee and come to church. Hence the email title: by all accounts, it doesn't make sense that she had that much drive to be baptized and overcame those obstacles. As the scriptures say, the things of God "confound the wise and the learned." Things were running smoothly for her and Nehemiah until we got a text from her a couple of days before the baptism saying she was going to ...

¿Qué tal, osos? Our friend Bishop came to church again and brought not just his sister Ofelia, but his nephew Nehemiah as well. We’d just been expecting those two, but instead, we got three, and they’re all preparing to be baptized this weekend. Keep them in your prayers; they’ve been fighting to overcome all the obstacles. Earlier in the week, he called and told us he’d be going to church with his other sister. After some major doubt resolution and more promising blessings for giving up coffee, he and his sister prayed to know what they should do, and they eventually received their answers to keep coming to church with us. It’s not over yet, but we’re right on track. To help them out, we bought them some herbal tea to drink instead. We initially were going to find an herbal tea with caffeine, until we realized that the lack of caffeine is what makes it herbal tea. Back at you this week with very little time, but I'll do my best. It’s been an excellent week with lots of cool little miracles. The title this week is due to our new friend Baldemero, aka Bishop. He referred himself on Facebook, so what we had to do was send him a message. He's super cool and accepted a baptismal date for the 24th, but he is progressing so well that he might be able to be baptized on the 18th. He loved church and is super excited. I have a couple of other solid potentials as well. Overall, things are heating up and are quite exciting. Happy to be in Sanny B!! (San Benito). Big surprise this week is that I have stayed for a third transfer here in San Benito. I really thought I was leaving and that I'd do my last two transfers somewhere else, but I guess God has different plans. Moving was not in the cards. Not for me. All in all, I'm here, and there's still work for me to do here. I'm grateful that God trusts me enough to do it and has given me this opportunity to grow. Overall, it was a strange week, but good nonetheless. I have an additional area and companionship in the zone. There are three companionships of training missionaries right out of the MTC, and they're all in my district. Overall, it should be good fun helping them adjust to mission life and doing the Lord's work. We have a lot of potential coming up for this transfer, and I'm excited for what it holds.
