The Sky Is Falling, The Sky Is Falling!

Image
Tropical Storm Alberto has been rolling through. Lots of rain and moderately flooded streets. Not that bad though; it mostly rains really hard, sprinkles, and stops for a bit, then repeats. All good fun despite the sky constantly falling. Transfers happened and the Teeps remain in Sani B. As the 4th quarter sets in, the grind is on more than ever. Didn’t know it was possible, but turns out it is. Sadly, I said goodbye to my companion, but I got another one, and we’re hitting the ground running. We got a part-member family to church yesterday that I’m super excited to work with. The dad has been coming to church for years and already knows basically everything. He just needs to make it official. I continue to realize with each passing day how infinite the Atonement of Jesus Christ truly is. The diversity and complexity of people's obstacles and trials often seem insurmountable, but with the Savior, all wounds may be healed and obstacles overcome. As my mission president says, “Don’t...

Bye Buddy, Hope You Find Your Dad!

Unfortunately, I will not be finding my dad quite yet, as I have a decent portion of it missing, but I miss you, Dad. Happy Father's Day to Tad, my dad. Also, happy Father's Day to all those epicly awesome fathers and future fathers out there. Jumping right into it, our friend Justus, the 9-year-old son of a member who moved here from Virginia, got baptized on Saturday and confirmed yesterday! My companion and I tried to help him get baptized last transfer, but he wasn't quite ready. After working with him, he decided he was finally ready on Tuesday. We quickly prepped a baptismal service and everything turned out great! Our other friend, Justus' aunt Alaila, got super sick and had to go to the ER, and subsequently missed church. But she is recovering now and should be getting back on track. Prayers up. Here's to our other friends, especially the families we're teaching. Not much else to say or time to say it, but espero que tengan una buena semana y sientan el ...

In Summerrrr!

Image
Hello everyone! Hope things have been good and well! Summer continues to reign with an iron fist. We had a summer mission conference this week (which was awesome), and it was 102° and felt like 123°. Thus, the title quote was fitting for the week. Highlights were going to the temple to do baptisms for the dead with some recent converts. It’s always a great experience to go to the House of the Lord. One of our recent converts is going through a hard time right now and wasn't able to/didn't make it to the temple. He's slowly getting through things, but be sure to keep Joe in your prayers. It was a bit of a longer week and a bit draining, especially with stale conference, but overall it went well, and we got some people progressing well. One of them is Alaila, the fiancĂ©e of a returning member. She's really excited for baptism. The other is a guy named Lewis who understood the Restoration super well and is looking for more direction. Overall, I'm excited. Emails are a ...

I Love Technology

Greetings email readers! This week was pretty epic, especially for taking pictures. The highlight was that our friend Christian was baptized on Saturday and confirmed yesterday! The reason for this email is that he actually filled out one of the Facebook ads to have us come by. He had been taught in the past but was finally ready. It was super cool being able to teach him, and he's already been super fellowshiped by lots of other members and recent converts his age. He's so happy to be on the path, and I'm excited to see his progress. Lately, we've been trying more to use pictures of Jesus to get the attention of passing cars and try to talk to them. It's gone well, and we met some neat people. We’re prepping to go to the temple on Wednesday to do baptisms for the dead with a bunch of the recent converts in the ward. It should be a memorable experience. Not much more to say other than as our lives are centered on making and keeping covenants with Christ, everything ...
